Things that can’t have helped:
1. Going from $8 to $18 an issue. I don’t even pay that for Cabinet, and that’s a fat, nicely printed quarterly on good paper.
2. Having the same exact name as another stylish magazine.
3. Too much style, not enough substance. It’s nice to look at, but I feel like a print format can go much deeper than say, Core77. The last issue I looked at had a big spread of Moby playing Rock Band, or some similar funky bullshit that I don’t read I.D. for.
